Qld CMC criticized: Terry O’Gorman – to see or not to see – white is always right in the deep North

Civil Libertarians warn against police investigating colleagues….. Terry O’Gorman interview – police must never be allowed to investigate claims against fellow officers….. its like school children marking their own exam papers, uhh (composite video – media report @5.02+) The Council for Civil Liberties….. blames the CMC and its Parliamentary overseer for the long delays in addressing the death of Cameron Doomadgee …..on Palm Island…… The reality is the bigger picture remains unresolved and the bigger picture poses a big problem….. immediately after the death of Mr Doomadgee and subsequent burning down of the Palm Island Police Station there were paramilitary raids by Queensland Police in darkness, many police wearing balaclavas where many aboriginal residents made very serious complaints about being brutalised by the police; within very quick time those investigations were supposedly investigated and within very quick time they were typically dismissed as having no justification….. Five plus years onwards we still have no result on the rather simple and easy to investigate issue of how did it come about that Sergeant Hurley’s mates from Townsville were sent to investigate their mate. That the police who were sent to investigate Sergeant Hurley in his role of Mr Doomadgee’s death wined and dined with him and then set out on the farcical exercise of supposedly being independent investigators.
