Senior picture help? Please?

I am getting my senior pictures done on Tuesday and I have no idea what to wear. I know it sounds silly but I have been through my closet so many times! Now, the company I’m getting my pictures done suggest the following…

[Clothing]
– White or pastel colors are perfect for lighter backgrounds.
– Casual outfits in earth tones work best for outdoor photographs.
– Middle tones or deeper solid colors are ideal for formal portraits.
– Bright colors look great with our Color Key backgrounds.
– Avoid large prints or patterns that distract from your face.
– Choose long-sleeved shirts or sweaters rather than short-sleeved.

They also recommended a semi-formal dress, nothing too prom but not like a summer dress. So I am 5’3”, and 97lbs, I’m really small. I don’t know if there’s like certain "styles" or what not for petites or whatever but anyways, I shop at Hollister, and I will more than likely go there for my clothes. So, if you have any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated :)

The photographer is making things way more complicated than they need to be. You need to be comfortable and at ease for your portraits for the photographer to be able to work well with you. Wear something comfortable that you like and look good in. Make sure your parents approve of any outfit that will go on a wall portrait. Keep your jewelry and makeup simple.

My daughter wore a cute sleeveless patterned dress that she wore for her brother’s graduation ceremony. The pictures, studio and outdoors, turned out great!

Keep in mind the photographer’s guidelines are just suggestions. Don’t stress over it.

I am a photographer, and prefer to shoot people who’s clothing doesn’t have a pattern. Just simple color. Some people have a color that they look their best in (for me its neutral yellow). I recommend to avoid being too over the top especially in makeup and hair. Keep in mind that these photos will be timeless, so I recommend to play it safe with clothing, makeup, and hair that’s classy and something you won’t look silly in the future for wearing (this also goes for the photographer as well with any weird ideas)

But the most important thing is to be comfortable and have fun! Photographs capture people’s mood and personality as well, so enjoy yourself, have fun, be relaxed and put your best foot forward.
